Physiotherapy

The UQ Sports and Rehab physiotherapy team uses the latest techniques and ideas with a ´hands on´ approach to facilitate your recovery from both acute and ´overuse´ injuries. We pride ourselves on not wasting your time with ineffective modalities.

Paul Fien

Senior physiotherapist Paul Fien has 20 years of sports and musculoskeletal experience including heading up physiotherapy services for St George rugby league, University of Queensland Red Heavies rugby union, and some guest appearances for the Brisbane Lions. Also having treated national and international level athletes in track and field and cycling, and even a stint as physiotherapist for the Holden Racing Team at Bathurst.

Louise Westaway

Louise Westaway is the first female physiotherapist to join the ranks of UQ Sports and Rhab. Louise joined us 2 years ago and has been a very welcome addition to our team.
A University of Queensland graduate, Louise has broad sporting interests and apart from supporting the NSW Blues she brings another good perspective to our clinic. In 2007 Louise has taken on the physiotherapy coverage of the UQ Rugby Club’s Colts 1 team and Brisbane physical theatre company Zen Zen Zo.

Nigel Smith

Nigel Smith is the latest physio to join the UQ Sports and Rehab team, arriving in February 2007. Nigel has a background in Human Movement studies, graduating from QUT with an undergraduate and a postgraduate degree in exercise physiology.
These qualifications on top of his Physiotherapy degree give him a broad perspective on injury rehabilitation and management. Wherever possible, Nigel tries to integrate an exercise approach to his clinical work.
